What a gem! My wife and I spent a few days at Chestnuts Country House and absolutely loved it. Dave and Kelly are superb hosts, the breakfast is delicious with a great selection of homemade breads, marmalade and cooked to order mains as well as a variety of locally sourced products. We also had a daily surprise treat like home made trifle and cake in our room. The area has a lot to offer with great pubs, Michelin star restaurants, heritage sites and an excellent day spa within a few minutes drive. Highly recommended and will definitely come back! We had the most amazing stay here. The room was gorgeous and impeccably clean, the surrounding areas were lovely for a walk with some great pubs not too far away. Kelly and David were brilliant hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was the best we have ever had - everything freshly made from home-grown produce and completely delicious. We would recommend this B&B to everyone and will definitely be coming back in the summer!
Kelly and David were wonderful hosts. The place was easy to find and access, the room was clean and cosy and primed with some lovely homemade carrot cakes and cornflake flapjacks! The 3 course breakfast was a wonderful experience with so many options and really nice home-made selection of jams and breads. Will definitely be visiting again!
We had an overnight stay here on our way to Yorkshire and we can confidently say this is the best place we have ever stayed in! The welcome by Kelly and David was exemplary and the room was delightfully decorated, luxurious and comfortable. As for the breakfast - 10/10 and just delicious served in the dining room of the main house which was full of the owners' collection of trinkets and ornaments - great for talking points! Everything was homemade and extremely tasty and the menu had a variety of exciting and original options. I highly recommend this B and B and will be re-booking for our next trip up north! Fantastic - thank you! (and it's dog friendly with a huge lawned area for chasing a ball and burning off some energy after a long car journey!)
We had the most amazing stay at The Chestnuts Country House. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. Our room was spotless, beautifully maintained, and exceptionally well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. You can tell great care and attention goes into every detail. The hosts were absolutely fabulous — warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their enthusiasm and dedication truly shine through and make the whole experience feel special and personal. Breakfast was hands down the best we’ve ever had. The homemade plant-based meals were incredibly tasty, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. We were also delighted to find delicious homemade treats waiting for us in our room — such a lovely touch! This is by far the best place we’ve stayed to date. We will definitely be back and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Absolutely 5 stars. The UK’s best kept secret. I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the world’s top 5-star hotels, but this has just become my new favourite place. Kelly and David are the most lovely, warm and welcoming hosts you could wish to meet, and their breakfast honestly rivals the best Michelin spots in the country. The rooms are spotless, modern and full of charm, the beds are unbelievably comfortable, and the surroundings are simply stunning. I’ll be coming back again and again.
Wonderful welcome from David and home made malt loaf and flapjacks in our stunning room . This is a total gem of a place and amazing setting but it is the attention to detail that raises it above the rest . Breakfast - we will be talking about it for sometime to come - everything homemade and top quality . David and Kelly have created a sanctuary and a place they should feel proud of . Exceptional room, hospitality and service. Kelly and David were superb hosts in every way possible. Kelly's baking and cooking was amazing. We received home made flapjack and carrot cake in our room. The breakfast was all freshly made including home made jams, marmalade and sauces with meats from local suppliers. David was a fantastic host and we enjoyed chatting to him and Kelly. The room was spotlessly clean with high end finishes. Everything we could possibly need was provided. The grounds were so peaceful and beautiful. Can't recommend enough. Thank you Kelly and David.
